The creeping horror of knowing something is moving towards you, inescapable and unrelenting in its pursuit is . . . student debt?
This week we scared the living daylights out of ourselves by relating It Follows to late-stage capitalism, vaporwave, and classic literature. We also unpack the deeply feminine fear of being taken advantage of by a trusted partner, and why the prototypical nice guy should finish last.
CW: This episode contains in-depth discussions of sexual assault.

Hi ladies! Over the last few months I’ve been getting more and more into podcasts and finally started yours (even though I’ve been a fan of your tumblr metas for awhile now). I’ve basically been binge-listening to your podcast the last few days and have enjoyed them all so much! They really help make my IT-desk job more entertaining. 🙂
I actually really appreciated you all pinning down why It Follows is such a horrifying film (and the feeling lingering more so afterwards than other horror films I’ve enjoyed like the Conjuring & some of the other ones you’ve mentioned). I could never pin it down myself but it is such a discomforting film as a young woman, bringing forth that background fear I think a majority of us have.
(on another note – would love to see you all tackle the vampire genre at some point since I noticed Twilight & TVD being mentioned on a few other of your podcast episodes!)

Hi Anissa! We’re so glad to hear that you’re getting into podcasts! They’re a great medium and we’re happy to be adding to the discussion.
Re Vampire Genre: We’re definitely planning to tackle the Vampire genre (and hopefully get a running mini-series on it) but with the way our episodes are panning out we probably won’t get to it until early next year. Thanks for listening! ❤
